Who Are We?….
Fly-by-Night Performers Self-Portraits
Artistic Director, Julie Ludwick

I am a female, immigrant, mother, with European ancestry. My passion for dance leads me to create, perform, teach, and share the act of dancing, especially when done somatically. Opportunities to bring dancers together who feel this same type of passion catch my interest. Each day is started with 5 minutes of watching my breath before rising to feed my cat. Pronouns: she/her.
Dancer/Collaborator, Maia Ramnath Director

I am a queer bi-racial aerialist, dancer, writer, scholar, teacher and tour guide who recognizes the importance of redressing persistent historical and structural inequities in power and representation, while distrusting the labels of simplistic identity politics. In the United States context I am the descendant of European settlers on one side, and a recent South Asian immigrant on the other. My passion for understanding the past is equal to my passion for imagining possible futures. My excitement in physicality is equal to my excitement in ideas. I exist in contradictions and believe in praxis.
Dancer/Collaborator, Cecilia Fontanesi

I am a non-citizen, Italian dance artist, and a multifaceted practitioner: dancer, improviser, choreographer, Laban Movement Analyst, dance and neuroscience educator, researcher, and dance/movement therapist. My work integrates Southern European dance traditions with contemporary therapeutic and educational approaches. Pronouns: she/her/her
Dancer/Collaborator, Asha Flasha

I am a Brooklyn-born Black Street Dancer, and teacher: improvisation is my strong suit, but I’ve always been open to new ideas and movement opportunities. My students need movement and expression in their lives and we create a space to dance ourselves towards sanity. Pronouns: he/him
Dancer/Understudy Martin Borromeo

I am a first generation Asian American musical theater actor, multi-disciplinary mover, Philippine indigenous dance practitioner, and pilates instructor. My artistry is an amalgamation of training within my intersectional identities and interests, specifically my Filipino American upbringing in the San Francisco Bay Area and working in the western commercial and theatrical industries of New York City. My aim is to contribute a presence of diversity and encourage self expression and connections through performance art. Aside from my work as a movement artist, I am a proud member of the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus whose recent season, “Our Joy is a Protest”, emphasized that queer joy and existing proudly is revolutionary in defying a lot of hatred that still exists. Pronouns: He/Him
